How it works
A plan first. Then the work.
Most tutoring is sold by the hour with no end in sight. I work the other way around: we diagnose, we write the plan, and then we run a program with a start date, an end date, and a test date at the finish line.
The free 20-minute call
Parent and student together. I'll ask about schools, timeline, what you've tried, how your student learns, and what your week looks like. Then I'll tell you what I'd do, including which test to take. You don't decide anything on the call.
Free.
Week one: the diagnosis
Your student takes a proctored, full-length practice test with me over Zoom. Then I hand you a written plan: which test and why, a target score and what it buys at your schools, the exact test dates, the homework load, and the two or three skills worth the most points.
Included in the program.
The 12-week program
Twelve weekly two-hour sessions, three proctored full-length practice tests with a one-page report inside 72 hours, about three hours of homework a week (broken into short sittings, with reminders), and a debrief after every official score.
$3,600 for 12 sessions, or $3,000 for 10. Everything included.
What every program includes
- Session notes within 12 hours (usually within minutes; sometimes I build the homework from scratch), to the student and the parents: what we worked on, the rules to remember, the homework with due dates, the next session, the next practice test, and the test plan.
- A written diagnosis. After the first practice test I name the two or three skills worth the most points, and the program attacks them in order.
- Three proctored practice tests, official forms only, with a report that shows section scores, what changed since last time, timing, and the biggest remaining point pools.
- An error log the student keeps: every miss, coded by cause (careless, concept gap, pacing, misread). Explaining a miss is where the learning happens.
- Mid-week check-ins so homework happens in four short sittings across the week, which is how skills actually stick, instead of one long night before the session.
- A monthly parent call and a one-page monthly progress report: scores, homework completion, error-log trends, next dates.
- A test-day routine and a debrief after every official score, by email and by phone, with a clear recommendation on whether to sit again.
- A free copy of Talent Is Overrated, because the philosophy is part of the program.
What I ask of students
About three hours of practice a week, done in short sittings, with a screenshot when each piece is finished. I'm flexible about how much I assign and very strict about it all getting done. That combination is where scores come from.
Where and when
All sessions are on Zoom, with a shared whiteboard and Desmos open the whole time. I work with families across U.S. time zones and abroad. Weekly session slots are fixed for the length of the program so nobody is ever chasing a time.

You, your student, and me. I'll ask a lot of questions and tell you honestly what I'd do in your shoes, including which test to take. No decision required on the call.
